Sometimes we all need a bit of extra motivation when it comes to working out. Whether you need a push to run the last 3km or a helping hand to finish your circuit, a good song is sometimes all it takes. Listening to music while you workout is also a great way to relieve boredom, and studies show it can help improve the quality of your workout by increasing your stamina, encouraging you to work harder and enhancing your mood. Here are some of our expert trainers' all-time favourite workout tracks. Time to turn it up.

Chilled Drum 'n' Bass playlist

“I love listening to this Spotify playlist because it gives me the perfect balance of motivation and energy in my workout, without it being too overly aggressive.”

Lee Mullins, founder of Workshop

In The End by Linkin Park

“I usually like garage and drum 'n’ bass but I love listening to this song in the middle of the workout when I’m fully pumped and throwing a load of weights around. It has a great beat, is a bit aggressive and gives me an extra 5% energy, which is exactly what I need when I’m doing that kind of training. It’s easy to coast in the gym but music helps keep you accountable and keeps you going.”

Tim Blakey, Performance Specialist

Forty-Six & 2 by Tool

“If I’m feeling flat during a workout, nothing can give me that edge like Tool. If I had to pick a song, I'd say this one. It's not 'angry' music, it’s heavy and deep. It fires my brain up which in turn switch my muscles into that higher gear.”

Lewis Dove, Performance Specialist

How We Do by The Game Ft 50 Cent

“I just think this is a funky hip hop beat to train to. I use it for mainly running and boxing. It just gets me in the zone for some reason.”
